Grub Hub is our food donation project

Grub Hub Team

Our Grub Hub project has three aims:

  • to support tenants and community members in hardship
  • to prevent good quality food going to landfill
  • to offer volunteering opportunities for those who want to give something back to their community

The project began in July 2017 when Greggs in Tonypandy asked if we could use their surplus food. Our partners have increased since then to include Lidl and Farmfoods in Porth and also receiving donations from Cooperative and Tesco stores.

Staff and tenant volunteers collect the food and prepare  parcels, working alongside our Housing Officers and Payment Advisors to get help to those who most in most need.

We are really proud of the project’s achievements:

  • Providing over 2600 parcels to 1300 people
  • Offering volunteering and training opportunities to people
  • Protecting the environment and preventing food from going to landfill

If you are a tenant and in need of a food donation please contact your Housing Officer or Payment Advisor who will refer you for support.

Everyone in our communities are welcome to pop in to help yourself to our Community Fridges in our Little Shed which is open each week day morning.
